Things to Consider Before Starting up Your Spiritual Business

Are you in the situation where you’re running in circles, bouncing back and forth debating about whether you should run or start a spiritual business? To be running a spiritual business takes bravery. You may be thinking something along the lines of ‘I love my spiritual practice and spiritual work I do, but I would hate to charge people for it’. You understand that lightwork and business are two very separate approaches. You want to help as many people as you can, and you want to make the world a better place. There is no doubt about that. But whoever said you have to run a business in order to do so? You can excel the same amount of unity from not being a business owner just as a business owner. Use this archive to fully understand what current spiritual business owners are currently going through and see where you fit in the spectrum.

As spiritual as your practice may be, you still have to run it like a business.
I cannot say this enough. A common thing a lot of spiritual healers and practitioners confess after running their spiritual business for a while, it’s still a business. And you have to run it like a business according to government regulations and tax laws regardless of how spiritual you are. You do all the work. You wear all the hats. You pay for any professional support you receive. Every penny of overhead comes directly out of your pocket. You do all the long-range planning. You manage the day-to-day details. You must backtrack and accurately log all the expenses to keep your books and you receive no benefits. Many startups focus solely on being good at their practice and completely lack the knowledge of accounting, tax, legal and financial duties required for self-employed people.

Your Spiritual business isn’t going to be your full-time income right away.
Before you decide to quit your current job and jump right into running your business as a full-time thing, make sure you have a backup job to pay off all the expenses to run your business. I understand the agony of your corporate job not fulfilling your soul’s purpose. However, you’d think that quitting your 9-5 right away and diving hard right into your spiritual business is the most freeing experience right? Well… it’s a bit more complicated than that. Let’s speak hypothetically for a second here. Let’s say you quit your job immediately and went into ”full-time-spiritual-business-building mode’. You keep doing your thing and realize that there are new expenses that you have to start investing in order for you to move forward in your business. If that were the case, you’d run into many downfalls mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. Yup, you are running your spiritual business, but there’s no freedom at all. But if you decided to keep your corporate job, and ran into that same issue with paying the new expenses that you were unaware of, it’s no big deal. You got that income flow saving your life. Just a tip that will really help you experience the REAL FREEDOM of your spiritual business. Once you are making at least 75% of what your current job pays you, THEN you quit your 9-5. Trust me, it feels awesome once you feel that financial security.

The spiritual market is huge, which makes it more difficult to stand out from the rest of the world.
You may have thought that you want to start a Reiki business or maybe be a life coach or even a healer of some kind. But have you noticed something.. there is a major shift in consciousness where people are spiritually waking up. Tons of these spiritually-awake people are starting to build their own spiritual business. So the tricky thing with the spiritual market is that there are hundreds of thousands of people doing the same thing as you. Which means there is spiritual-business competition pretty much everywhere. Don’t let this discourage you though. That isn’t to say that you shouldn’t, but it is something to become aware of before starting it. Ask yourself deeply. Are you mentally, emotionally, and spiritually prepared for the rat race of spiritual business owners? Think about your message and look within. How does your message differentiate from other lightworkers? What makes you truly unique? What do you have that nobody else does? Answering these questions will be the things that help you stand out.

You can still be a lightworker even if you don’t have a spiritual business.
The most important thing to make the decision when it comes to working as a lightworker is asking yourself one question. ‘Where do I feel most effective being a lightworker?’ If you’re like me, I’m one of those people that feels like I achieve more lightwork outside the business world. I leave money to business, and lightwork to kindness. But then there are people who feel like they are more effective sharing their lightwork through a business. So, they merge lightwork and business together. They want to make money for something that they truly love, and that being a spiritual business. It’s really all about understanding what makes you feel good, and where you can find your balance for serving your gifts to this planet. Whether that be volunteer work, though a business or through kindness, there is tons of ways how you can look at being a lightworker.

The conclusion
My recommendation to you is to focus on being good at your gifts. The important thing is to not let the monetary system destroy your love and light. But also, know yourself well enough to determine where you will feel most balanced and most effective. And finding that balance and effectiveness is different for every person. Running a business certainly is not for everyone and it takes a lot of responsibility. But if you feel like you’ve got the financial, legal, and corporate motivation to successfully run a spiritual business, then do it. If you want to hold back on the spiritual business and you don’t feel ready to do so, it’s no problem either! Go do what you do best!
